We Love: mermaid wedding inspiration

Style mag Lucky reports that “mermaid” beauty is all the rage, and we are all about it!

We unveiled our Arielle Engagement Ring a few months ago, which has a decidedly magical-mermaid feel, and we’re loving the trend for weddings. Iridescent colors, siren shapes and under-the-sea inspiration just puts us in the greatest mood!

We wouldn’t necessarily take it so literally, but these pictures are really beautiful.

This mermaid inspired elopement is so perfect!

And we adore this sunset ‘Day After’ shoot from Sean Taylor Photography, with the bride’s wildly sexy mermaid hair.

What do you think of the mermaid trend?

We Love: Simple Wedding Rings & Simple Living

Zen. The economy. Saving time. Saving the environment. Quality over quantity. Teaching our kids to value relationships and experiences over the material things in life.

There are so many reasons why less is more. This interesting article on the topic has us thinking of ways to scale back and simplify.

On that note, here’s our list of links to make life simpler, better and more fun.

Why buy a wear-once dress? Shabby Apple is such a great resource for bridesmaids dresses they’ll love to wear again.

A cool way to sell your wedding dress, so someone else can enjoy it!

A chic braid. The best hair for a summer wedding with lots of dancing, and eco-friendlier than a headpiece.

White dresses with cutouts and sheer details for the daring summer bride. You could wear every single one of these again.

Or what about a skirt? Options for the bold bride, from ‘The Bold Bride.’

And speaking of simple, here’s how you make the classic Mai Tai, which is actually fresher and more sophisticated than we realized.

Go forth and be simple, whatever that means to you, and have a lovely weekend!

soul surfer bethany hamilton engaged

Bethany Hamilton is an inspiration to millions, especially young women, and we’re thrilled to share in her happiness.

She was on her way to a career in professional surfing when a shark attack took her left arm. She conquered her fears, got back on the board, and was competing again the next year.

Her amazing story is the subject of the biopic “Soul Surfer.”

Bethany is engaged to her boyfriend of one year, Christian youth minister Adam Dirks.

She wrote on her Facebook page, “One year ago today, I met an amazing man, now we will spend the rest of our lives together!”

Congratulations, Bethany and Adam!

Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon’s Disneyland Vow Renewal

Mariah’s the best. So talented, and she seems like a really fun mom to her twins, Monroe and Morocco.

Mariah celebrated Christmas again in February just because, so we weren’t surprised when she renewed her wedding vows at Disneyland.

And we love that she married her soul mate, a man who will dress up as a Disney Prince and marry her all over again. That’s real love.

Don’t settle for less, ladies!

What kind of sweet, corny things does your honey do for you?

We blogged about another celebrity vow renewal here.

We Love: Gibson Bespoke & Astoria Road

The Jeff Cooper family celebrated an anniversary this week, so we’re definitely in the mood for love. Designer David Cooper and his wife Nikole celebrated their anniversary this week, and we couldn’t help but share what they wrote about each other on Facebook. (We dare you not to tear up a little!)

Nicole wrote, “Today I’m married 9 years to the most amazing husband a girl can ask for! Every day I’m so blessed for our wonderful family.”

And David wrote, “Nikole, every day is a blessing with you. Life may be a never ending roller coaster, but as long as you ride it out with me, anything is possible. I love you more today than yesterday, and you’re more beautiful to me now than the day I met you 14 years ago.”

Just so you know, our Nikole Collection was inspired by David’s feelings for Nikole, and we can’t think of anything sweeter. We wish for every girl in the world to find someone who adores her like that!

And so, we wish you a beautiful, romantic, special weekend! Here are some loveable links to get you in the mood!

See the featured photo above this post? That’s Danielle and Andre from 100 Layer Cake’s ‘Rustic Florida Wedding.’ We found ourselves so drawn to this photo essay about them, because they look so lost in love with each other, it’s like nobody else is there. So romantic.

Getting married, or know someone who is? This is a great idea. It’s Astoria Road, a wedding registry that lets you select gifts from any store. Very cool.

Want a way to tactfully let bridesmaids and groomsmen what’s in the job description? All you need is this link.

Anyone with a house would appreciate this beautiful bird feeder. It’s such an artful piece for $20, can you think of a more perfect housewarming or hostess gift?

Are you a bride-to-be who really likes attention? Check out these one-of-a-kind bespoke wedding accessories from Gibson Bespoke on Etsy.

And finally, the 21 Rules of Entertaining. We’re fond of #21, since it involves homemade ice cream sandwiches. Save one for us!

Gina Lollobrigida’s Fancy Yellow Diamond

‘Magnificent Jewels’ auctions at Sotheby’s and Christie’s are always good, but this weekend, Sotheby’s was AMAZING.

Glamorous 1950s and 60s screen siren Gina Lollobrigida auctioned her 74.53-carat fancy yellow diamond, and it sold for $2.95 million, an auction record for a fancy yellow diamond. Here’s Ms. Lollobrigida.

The previous owner was the Imperial Majesty Sultan Ahmad Shah Qajar, the last ruler of the Qajar dynasty in Persia. That’s this gentleman.

There is something so magical about this diamond. We could stare into it all day.

There were also other fabulous jewels in the auction, which you can see here. Ms. Lollobrigida auctioned the jewels to raise money for stem cell research.

Shenae Grimes & Her Black Wedding Dress

And the bride wore black!

Congrats to 90210 star Shenae Grimes and her new husband Josh Beech. They got hitched over the weekend and she wore Vera Wang’s unconventional Josephine dress.

What do you think of bridal black?

We love originality in all forms, so we’ll say yes to the dress. And what Jeff Cooper ring would suit this femme fatale bride?

We’re thinking our Tallulah Engagement Ring reflects Shenae’s mix of romance and a slightly gothic edge. What do you say?

Moms Rock!

Motherhood: All love begins and ends there. So said Robert Browning, and it’s true for all of us.

Does your family have any special Mother’s Day traditions? We just like to spend the day outside with the kids, have lunch out and treat Mom like the queen she is.

So in honor of our miraculous, beautiful moms, here’s our list of links we’re loving. Have a wonderful weekend!

Are you anywhere near Houston, Texas? We’re jealous. We would love love love to see this art installation by Soo Sunny Park.

We love the idea of bridesmaids in wearable, sophisticated dresses. And so do they! We wrote about using a statement lipcolor to dress up a simple bridesmaid’s dress. And here’s another idea we love…

We came across not one, but two amazing collections of every conceivable earring. They’d be great accessories for bridesmaids, for dressing up your LBD or with a fancy updo, but we’d also wear some of them with a t shirt and jeans. What do you think of these? And these?

Who’s up for a road trip? You don’t have to be honeymooning to do these. We’ve done NY to Maine many times and it’s heaven.

Bring on the ombre wedding details. You know how much we love it!

And if you want to save your wedding gown for future generations, this wedding gown preservation kit guarantees that your dress wont yellow for at least 100 years!

This a great read, and a great last minute Mother’s Day gift, and here’s a cool link to things we didn’t know about the elegant Jackie O.

Happy Mother’s Day weekend!

Keira Knightly’s Wedding to James Righton

Can these names sound more delightfully British?

Keira Knightley married James Righton in France on Saturday. And apparently she’s worn her breezy Rodarte dress before, though she styled it with a classic Chanel jacket and ballet flats for the wedding.

We love her confidence! It’s not about the flowers, the dress. the hair and makeup. It’s all about the beautiful bride, with no distractions. It’s refreshing!

Cheers to the fashionable newlyweds!
