Romantic Proposals & Masala Chai Tea

As St. Francis Xavier said, “Be great in little things.”

And this is what we’re meditating on this week. The love you pour into little moments, small gestures, fine details, it all adds up to who you are and what you stand for.

Let’s make this weekend ridiculously amazing, one little thing at a time!

Like this: this week we heard from Ryan, who wrote, “She said… yes! I just got engaged last week with a beautiful custom ring you all made.” Our featured image is his amazing, heartfelt proposal.

And here’s the ring, nestled in a red, red rose!

So gorgeous, right?

Now, let’s take a moment to make it feel like a fall weekend from heaven.

Who needs a pumpkin spice latte when you can create something spicy and warm to hold and savor: A lovely cup of chai tea!

Want more warm, cozy love? Carrot soup is awesome.

Okay, one more! Vegan carrot cake with coconut whipped cream. Amazing and seasonal.

Are you too tired to go out? Got kids? Don’t give up on romance! Try this adorable “Date Night In.” Then, try this one.

Actually want to go out and feel that crisp air? Here are NY’s food events this fall. Yum.

Getting married? We never get over ombre wedding details. Never, ever. It’s so pretty! The pink is perfect with these rose gold Jeff Cooper designs.

And check this rose gold stunner, a recent custom design for one of our couples!

We love this refined, simple cake topper, too. Cute, but not cutesy.

Congrats to the beautiful Jeff Cooper couple Ryan and Jessica!

ask jeff cooper: How to get great wedding pictures

We’re avid fans of weddings and great photography, and wedding photography is one of the most important, but mysterious parts of planning a wedding.

We attended a wedding this weekend where the photographer looked down on shooting a still life of the bride’s dress and shoes! So it pays to discuss these things in advance, and to have a list of shots that you have your heart set on.

That said, be open and spontaneous. When you find a photographer you love, trust them to cover all the candid moments that make your day special.

One of our favorite shoots is this series by Sean Taylor Photography, where the couple is clearly playful and comfortable. Trust your gut. If you don’t feel uninhibited when you interview your photographer, you won’t feel that way on the day of the wedding.

A great photographer listens, inspires trust, and is a consummate professional. Spend what you can to hire someone really special!

Andy Samberg Marries Joanna Newsom

The hilarious Andy Samberg married indie musician Joanna Newsom this Saturday at the Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur, where Anne Hathaway also got married this year.

After five years together, they held a very private and romantic ceremony on the California coast near Samberg’s hometown of Berkeley California.

Andy and Joanna have been engaged since February.

We wish all the happiness in the world to the adorable and quirky couple!

We love: Apple cider donuts & fall nail colors

The important thing is to be in love with something. ― Ray Bradbury

Or someone. ― Jeff Cooper

So here we are, with our weekly list of fun links and diversions. We hope you find something that inspires you.

Here’s something amazing. (A GoPRo camera strapped to an eagle.)

Something old. (Guy discovers a Van Gogh in his attic.)

Something new. (A wedding theme we’ve never seen before: Moon & Stars.)

Something cheap and chic. (Nail polish colors for fall.

Something seasonal. (Old fashioned apple cider donuts.)

Something virtuous. (A lemony salad.)

Something unexpected. (Bright eyecolor and a chic bun.)

Something understated. (Beautifully calming greys.)

Something light. (Beautifully calming white interiors.)

Something sparkly.

Something social.

And something real.(Our featured photo, a groom, overcome with emotion.)

We hope your weekend is really something!

Autumn Wedding Style

This Sunday marks the first day of fall, so let’s talk about fall wedding style, shall we?

This Australian farm wedding has it all for fall. A rustic, personalized cake, a dramatic venue, a lacy, but demure wedding dress, a bouquet of saturated colors and original textures, and that warm sunset lighting we love.

This one is hip and amazing! The bride’s glasses and lipstick look so cool with her floral wreath and sultry dress, and the color story is incredible.

A bold lip and sexy hair is always in season, but especially for fall, don’t you think?

And how good are these tweed details for bride, groom and attendants? So chic as an alternative or an addition to swishy, silky things.

Sometimes engagement shoots can be a little sugary and over the top, so we love the refined simplicity of this one. Work those stiletto pumps, lady!

Pumpkin centerpieces too twee for you? Don’t judge till you see these. White pumpkins are the perfect blend of minimal and adorable.

So how are you making the most of the crisp, lovely days of fall?

John Legend Marries Chrissy Teigen in Italy

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have tied the knot!

The Grammy-winner married at Villa Pizzo in Lake Como, Italy on Saturday, picking the spot because “they first fell in love” there.

Kanye West was there, guest Stevie Wonder performed with the groom and Biz Markie helped DJ.

The bride, 27, wore three Vera Wang dresses, yes three! For the ceremony, she chose an open back, V-neck ballgown. For the reception she wore an ivory strapless mermaid gown with a pleated bodice. And she after-partied in a red strapless mermaid gown with a hand-draped bodice and inverted flange skirt with crystal embroidery.

Her new husband serenaded her with his song All Of Me,’Which I wrote for her,” said Legend, 34. “I wrote most of the album about her.”

The song is featured on his latest album Love In The Future, which was released over a week ago, on Sept. 3.

We Love: Octavia Asscher Cut Diamonds & Strawberry Scones

The indulgent weekend. It doesn’t have to be anything too involved, but the rainy weather and fall busyness have us craving some coziness and luxury. So what do you have planned for the weekend ahead?

Going somewhere elegant? We loved this timeless and easy evening look. Simple hair, a boldly lined eye and a nude lip. Add the only Little Black Dress you’ll ever need. You’re perfect and you’re done.

Need a little more glamorous inspiration? Here’s Kate Middleton looking every bit the immaculate princess.

Staying home? Nothing says love like crumbly, fragrant Strawberry-Buttermilk Scones with your morning coffee.

Unless it’s an adorable proposal featuring our Naomi Engagement Ring and a stunning Octavia Asscher Cut diamond!

Set the mood with an exquisite scented candle, and let the magic begin.

If you have a little more ambition (and more of a budget to work with) Matthew Williamson’s wallpaper designs for Osbourne & Little are so luxe and amazing. We love the tiger print for a powder room or walk in closet.

And since nothing feels as good as making a difference in someone’s life, check out charity:water, a truly inspired way to care for people in need.

Have a spectacular weekend!

Scarlett Johansson Engaged

Glamorous movie star Scarlett Johansson is engaged to be married! And the lucky man is French journalist Romain Dauriac.

Duriac proposed with a vintage Art Deco engagement ring about a month ago, but Johansson debuted it earlier this week at the Venice Film Festival.

The couple began dating 10 months ago, and haven’t yet announced any specific wedding plans.

Congrats to the beautiful and talented couple!

Rosh Hashanah Honey Cake & Brunch at home

Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall. ― F. Scott Fitzgerald

Shanah Tovah to all our friends and family celebrating Rosh Hashanah!

We love spending holidays at home with family, taking the time to make great food and great memories. And one tradition we love is hosting simple brunch at home.

How to do it right?

First, make the perfect Paloma.

And drink it while cooking perfect scrambled eggs.

And serve this perfect lemon poppyseed bread.

Don’t forget to get dressed up like a fashion editor.

Just kidding!  A fancy manicure is enough to make things fun and festive. (And a definite must-have for any newly engaged woman.)

If you want to dress up your house a little, this Austin couple has some fun ideas. (We love the shag rugs, they seem so cozy and family friendly.)

And finally, some beautiful diversity to start the weekend (and the year) off right!
